Sidamma joined in the earliest days, when Sister Isabel first taught a handful of women to sew dolls to sell outside schools and churches. Life outside those walls was harder - as a migrant unable to speak the local language, and enduring cruelty at home for not bearing a son. What she found at Creative Handicrafts wasn't just income, but people who cared - a kind of family that showed up even when her own could not.
Today, Sidamma speaks her mind freely. She once led one of the cooperatives and served on the board until 2011. As she puts it - after every dark night comes a brighter day, and she's grateful to everyone who helped her reach hers.
